Laura Britton is a Photonics Specialist who has graduated from NUIG with an Honours B Sc (Physics) and a M Sc (Photonics).
After her physics degree, Laura spent her Masters working on the sealice/salmon project. She concentrated on the light-tissue interaction of the louse. Another part of her studies was based on obtaining absorption spectra of an array of biological materials. Throughout this research she gained experience in absorption spectroscopy, high powered pulsed lasers, optical microscopy, fibre optics and interferometry.
Laura is a keen musician – playing many instruments from trombone to piano. She was a member of Clonmel Town Band and the NUIG orchestra. During her student days, she was also the Chairperson of the Organic Gardening society.
Laura’s role in APS is that of Photonics Researcher.
